The invention relates to a handpiece for a medical laser treatment device, particularly a dental handpiece, comprising a laser light outlet for a laser beam that is guided at least partially through the handpiece, whereby the laser light outlet is located on a treatment side of the handpiece. The inventive handpiece also comprises a closing disc (40) made of a material through which the laser beam can pass, whereby the closing disc essentially closes the laser light outlet. The handpiece also comprises a shielding and/or cleaning device (68, 70) for the closing disc. The invention also relates to a corresponding medical laser treatment device.
