PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly setΔF in a vehicle speed limiting device for reducing the fuel flow rate to be supplied to an engine byΔF when the vehicle speed reaches a set maximum value (for example, 90 km/h) during the acceleration of a vehicle by the operation of an accelerator pedal, because the optimum value ofΔF is varied depending on the using state of the vehicle such as the magnitude of load or the like, and the increase and decrease of vehicle speed is repeated to deteriorate the riding comfortableness whenΔF is excessively large. SOLUTION: In acceleration, the engine load at the time is calculated from the operation quantity of the accelerator pedal, and the optimum change quantityΔF of fuel flow rate is determined from the value of the engine load in reference to a map. The flow rate is controlled so as to be reduced only by thisΔF when the vehicle speed reaches the maximum value.
