TWO-WHEEL/FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE CHANGEOVER CONTROL METHOD FOR OFF-ROAD TRAVELING VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly change from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive in a two-wheel/four-wheel drive changeover control method for an off-road traveling vehicle with a dog clutch for changing two-wheel/four-wheel drive. SOLUTION: The dog clutch 48 is constituted to be intermittent by moving a shift sleeve 52 with a dog claw 51 between a connected position and a cut-off position A0 by an electric motor 53. The electric motor 53 is provided with a potentiometer 54 capable of detecting the position of the shift sleeve 52. A detection signal from the potentiometer 54 is inputted to a controller to control the position of the shift sleeve 52 by the electric motor 53 on the basis of the position detection signal. When the dog claw 51 and an engaging recessed part 57 are not engaged and an abutting state continues for a fixed time, an output shaft 61 of the electric motor 53 is once returned into a starting point position B0 and after the lapse of the fixed time, the shift sleeve 52 is moved again into the connected position A2.
