PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system for a shift lever capable of canceling the misoperation of the shift lever. SOLUTION: Whether or not the shift lever is operated on the basis of the driver's will is determined on the basis of an image from a CCD camera 13 and an image stored in a storage part 21. Whereby the operation of the shift lever is determined to be invalid when the driver touches the shift lever against his will. A signal indicating the invalidity is outputted from a control part 22 to a transmission control part 30. As a result, a connecting condition of a transmission is not shifted, and the present connecting condition is maintained. When the shift lever is operated on the basis of the driver's will, the operation is determined to be valid. A signal indicating the validity is outputted from the control part 22 to the transmission control part 30. As a result, the connecting condition of the transmission is shifted.
