PURPOSE: A setting device of transmission gear ratio variance of an automatic transmission is provided to detect induction volume all through the operating zone of a vehicle, and to prevent frequent unnecessary gear shifting. CONSTITUTION: In a device for setting transmission gear ratio variance of an automatic transmission, a detecting unit(104) for detecting the speed(Nab) of a vehicle and a setting unit(106) for setting transmission gear ratio variance(I soll) of the automatic transmission are prepared. The primary induction volume(B Z) stores the speed of the vehicle instantaneously detect at a point in time(t). The primary induction volume is decided from the passage of the time from the speed of the vehicle stored at other different points. The secondary induction volume(F T) indicating the type of a driver is detected. The setting of the transmission gear ratio variance of the automatic transmission is decided depending on the combination of the primary and secondary induction volume. Therefore, frequent unnecessary gear shifting of the vehicle is prevented.
