PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always enable the detection of the electrostatic charge state of a developer (toner) by detecting the electrical potential of a developer (toner) layer while controlling the potential by electrification of an image carrier (photoreceptor) by using an electrometer in the image forming apparatus of a electrophotography system. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with an image carrier 5-2 (photoreceptor), an electrostatic charging device 5-3 to electrify the image carrier, an exposure device 5-1 to form an electrostatic latent image on the image carrier, a developing device 5-4 which develops and sensitizes the electrostatic latent image on the image carrier with a developer, and a transferring apparatus 5-5 which transfers a sensible image on the image carrier to the transfer body. An electrometer 5-13 is provided at the circumference of the image carrier 5-2 to detect the potential by electrification on the image carrier. In such a case, the electrometer 5-13 is installed at a position between a development process and a transfer process. The electrometer reads the potential by electrification of the image carrier and the electrical potential of the developer layer. |
