PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device that controls a gradation characteristic caused by a dot gain so as to improve the gradation characteristic and increases number of effective gradations. SOLUTION: An output value after quantization for error arithmetic operations is set to a data correction section 27 by an instruction from a data selection/switching section 28. For example, in the case of four-valued error diffusion processing, an initial value 85 of dot data with a small size is set to (revised into) 102 and an initial value 170 of dot data with a medium size is set to (revised into) 204.
