<p>The present invention provides a simple and rapid method to study chromosome aberrations using unstimulated cells. Premature chromosome condensation is induced by incubating unstimulated cells in the presence of a mitosis-enhancing factor. The condensed chromosomes produced by the present methods can be used in numerous forms of cytogenetic analysis, in particular, with in situ hybridization probes and chromosome painting. This technique can be applied to biological dosimetry of radiation exposures involving uniform whole-body low-linear energy transfer exposures.</p> |
