Ignition starter switch for motor vehicles has actuator element lock, activated by direct manual operation or biometric sensor to execute authorization test

The switch has an actuator element (1') operated by the driver, to de/activate a vehicle immobilizer, and/or electronic steering lock and start/stop of an IC engine. It also has an actuator element lock (6') to secure the element, which is deactivated by direct manual operation. Only when the lock is deactivated can the element be operated to start the engine etc. The lock is formed by a shutter-like folding cover or protective cap. Alternatively, it may be a biometric sensor, which executes an authorization test when the element is actuated.
