PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating waste containing chromium oxides by which the eluation of Cr<6+> from the waste such as slag generated in the refining process of stainless steel, a chromium slag generated during manufacturing of a chromium compound, sewage sludge, sewage sludge molten slag, is prevented by a complete and industrially simple process. SOLUTION: This method for treating the waste containing the chromium oxides comprises the steps to bring an aqueous solution containing 0.03 wt.% or higher of sulfur and/or sulfur showing an oxidation number of pentavalence or less into contact with the waste containing the chromium oxide, is provided. Also the method for treating the waste containing the chromium oxide comprising the steps to soak the waste containing the chromium oxide in a blast furnace slag eluate is provided.
