PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce a continuous video signal without causing incompatibility by skipping a CM part. SOLUTION: The broadcast signal inputted from an antenna is restored by a tuner part to a video signal and the video signal having its information compressed by a compression part is recorded in a recording means (S1). At the same time, the video signal from the tuner part has its CM part detected by a CM detection means (S2). Position information on the detected CM part (start and end) is saved in the recording means (S3) together with the compressed video signal. A program repetitive part detecting means obtains program part data right before the CM part from the position information on the CM art (start) (S4) and performs detection processing for the program part data from the program part right after the CM part (end) (S5). It is confirmed whether there is repetitive part (S6) and when that is confirmed (Yes), position information on the program part where the program part data are detected is obtained and saved in the recording means (S7). When reproduction is performed, the part from the position information on the CM start to the position information of the obtained program part data confirmation is skipped and the reproduction processing is performed.
