The identity code display (1) for competitors in sporting events, e.g. equestrian competitions, is attached to the outside of the lower section of the saddle blanket (2). The blanket carries a pattern of press studs (8-10), for the individual numbers and letters of the competitor's identity to be secured by press buttons.
