<p>A low profile gastrointestinal tube feeding system (10) having a securing member (12) for securing a feeding set (14) to a low profile gastrostomy tube (16). The low profile gastrostomy tube includes an external retention member (18) having legs that seat and retain the external retention member (18) against the patient's outer body and a tubular member that is disposed inside the stomach or other visceral organ through a stoma formed through the abdominal and stomach walls of a patient. A connection member (15) attaches to the external retention member (18) and is secured thereto using the securing member (12). The securing member (12) includes a top portion (90) and a bottom portion (91) which are adapted to simultaneously engage respective portions of the connection member (15) and external retention member (18) when the securing member (12) is brought into sliding engagement thereto. Thus, the securing member (12) prevents inadvertent removal of the feeding set (14) from the gastrostomy tube (16).</p> |
