PROCESS FOR PREPARATION OF DEPOLYMERIZED CHITOSAN IN HETEROGENEOUS SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for efficient preparation of a depolymerized chitosan which has a higher quality and safety than conventional one. SOLUTION: The process for the preparation of depolymerized chitosan comprises the hydrolysis of chitosan granules in the presence of hydrochloric acid. The hydrolysis is carried out without dissolving the chitosan, while stirring the heterogeneous system. After the hydrolysis, the separation and purification are carried out in an organic solvent to give a hydrochloride of a depolymerized chitosan. After the hydrolysis the separation and purification are carried out by adjusting the pH to 7-12 in an organic solvent to give free depolymerized chitosan.
