PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide method and device for accurately detecting a running state of a tire such as a road surface state or existence of the tire. SOLUTION: This device 10 for detecting the tire running state comprises a pressure sensor 11 that is mounted to the tire or a wheel and detects air pressure in the tire, a pressure variation calculating means 13 that analyses time variation of the air pressure detected by the pressure sensor 11 by frequency and calculates pressure variation in a plurality of frequency band regions, and a detecting means 14 of the tire running state for detecting the running state of the tire based on the calculated pressure variation. The device 10 detects a tire vibration varying with the road surface state or the state of the tire as pressure variation of the air to detect the running state of the tire.
