摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for manufacturing a soot body with which a product having stable characteristics is obtained by reducing the variation of the outer diameter in the longitudinal direction of the fine glass particles (soot) caused by the difference of system conditions for supplying gas, such as gaseous starting material, and to provide a method for producing the soot body using the same. SOLUTION: In the device for preparing the soot body, fine glass particles are deposited sequentially on the surface of a starting rod by relatively moving the rotating starting rod and a plurality of burners for fine glass particle synthesis with which systems for supplying gases, such as gaseous starting materials, are connected. This device is provided with as many gas supply systems, which are switched to sends the gas supplied from a single MFC to each burner, as the number of burners. The gas supply systems can be changed over at any time. The method for producing the soot body by using the same method is also provided.
