PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fungus capable of selectively and efficiently oxidizing the side chain of an aromatic compound under a condition having a small load to an environment. CONSTITUTION:This method for oxidizing the side chain of an aromatic compound comprises using a fungus belonging to the genus Ustilago. This fungus is selected from Ustilago sp.CRP-3 (FERM P-14,018), Ustilago CRP-9 (FERM P-14,019), Ustilago CRP-12 (FERM P-14,020) and Ustilago-34 (FERM P-14,021). |
