摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage to a fluorescent layer or the discoloration of a fluorescent material during manufacture. SOLUTION: The height of a mount M1 of a first electrode 4A sealed to one end of a slender translucent discharge container with a tube diameter of 14-18 mm is greater than the height of a mount M2 of a second electrode 4B to the other end. The translucent discharge container 1 having the first electrode has one end set at a fixed side and the other end at a wind-up side, and is wound on a rotating drum and annularly bent. The translucent discharge container is exhausted via a tubing 3A protruded from one end thereof, filled with an ionized medium and tipped off. A tipped-off portion 3A1 is recessed into the tubing. Exhaustion and filling can be carried out at the fixed side during wind-up. The electrode, if shifted during wind-up, can be hardly moved close to the inner face of the translucent discharge container, causing less inconveniences including damage to the fluorescent layer or the discoloration of the fluorescent material due to the heat of the electrode. A desired coldest portion can be formed in the tubing or at one end thereof, producing higher luminous efficiency.
