PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fit and to remove a thrust bearing plate 6 to and from a shaft 1 along the direction of the diameter of the shaft by forming a shaft-fitting hole 7 of the thrust bearing plate 6 into a recess-shaped forming hole that is recessed from the external periphery 8 of the thrust bearing plate 6 toward the center of the plate 6, in a bearing device of an engine. SOLUTION: The need for a large-sized press is eliminated in the manufacturing of a bearing device, because a space for the thrust bearing plate 6 is reduced compared with a structure of a conventional type wherein the shaft-fitting hole 7 is surrounded with a plate wall of the thrust bearing plate 6 at its overall periphery.
