PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera capable of acquiring an image with the optimum exposure in a relatively short time. SOLUTION: In the digital camera comprising at least an imaging element (2) to convert an optical image into electrical signals, a control part (3) to execute an adjustment or the like of exposure value of the element and a recording part (temporary image data storage part 5) to record image data imaged by the element control of the control part (3), the control part (3) is composed of a storage means for exposure value selecting table (a storage part 4 for exposure value selecting table) to store data which is converted the relationship between a camera output value range outputted by the element in one-to-one correspondence to an outside light amount and intermediate value of the optimum exposure value range corresponding to the output value range into a table, a comparison means (the control part 3) to compare the camera output value imaged by the element with range data of camera output value stored in the exposure value selecting table storage part, and an exposure value adjusting means (the control part 3) to adjust the exposure value of the element based on the comparison result by the comparison means and the exposure value stored in the storage means.
