PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for thermal stabilization of a polycarbonate resin or polyester resin. SOLUTION: When the polycarbonate resin or polyester resin is subjected to heat-melting, lowering of the molecular weight of the resin can be controlled, by adding 20 to 1,800 ppm of a urea compound and 2 to 180 ppm of tannin or a condensed-polymerized tannin or a copolymerized tannin or a mixture of these tannins to the polycarbonate resin or polyester resin, the thermal stabilization of the resin can be achieved.
