PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epoch-making installation method for a concrete block for earth retaining, which makes water within a mud wall surface discharged properly so as to make the earth-retained mud wall surface resistant to collapse and reduces costs required to dispose of surplus soil by enabling effective utilization of the surplus soil at a construction site. SOLUTION: An upper opening type block body 3 equipped with a storage part 2 housing a heavy load 1 inside is placed on the mud wall surface in an annexed state so as to form an earth retaining wall A, and soil 1A serving as the heavy load 1 is put for storage into the storage part 2 of the block body 3, which is formed with a drainage channel 5 passing through the block body 3 backward and forward in a direction of application of earth pressure.
