PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device capable of effectively removing radioactive substances, or radioactive substances, COD causative substances, and n-hexane-extracted substances, contained in radioactive waste water, even if they are in a suspended solid state or in an ion-like state, or have solubility. SOLUTION: Radioactive waste water generated from a nuclear installation is brought into contact with an oxidant in a reaction vessel 1, thereby oxidizing/ insolubilizing the ion-like radioactive substances in the waste water. The water thus treated is solid-liquid separated by a filter or the like, to remove the insolubilized radioactive substances. Further, when the ion-like radioactive substances are oxidized/insolubilized, the COD causative substances and the n-hexane-extracted substances are decomposed and removed at the same time.
