PURPOSE:To provide the titled compd. which has good shapability, does not exhibit thin-spot phenomenon and is inexpensive, by kneading woodmeal, an inorg. filler and glass chopped strand with an unsaturated polyester resin. CONSTITUTION:10-100pts.wt. woodmeal as a filler and an appropriate quantity of an inorg. filler are kneaded with 100pts.wt. unsaturated polyester resin. When the quantity of woodmeal is less than 5pts.wt., no satisfactory effect can be obtd., while when it exceeds 100pts.wt., the flow characteristics are poor and the bulk of the compound is increased, so that characteristics as a compound can be hardly retained and further mechanical properties are greatly reduced. Examples of the inorg. fillers are calcium carbonate, clay, kaolin, talc, etc. If desired, additives such as mold release agent, catalyst, colorant, thermoplastic additives, etc. may be added.
