PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state image pickup unit which is provided with a solid-state imaging device for automatically changing a linear conversion and a logarithm converting action in accordance with an incident light amount at each pixel so as to perform outputting and by which a post-stage processing circuit easily processes a signal by converting the whole outputs from the solid- state imaging device into a signal obtained by the same conversion. SOLUTION: An RGB signal converted by logarithm and a linearly converted RGB signal are outputted at each pixel from the solid-state imaging device 42. Then the RGB signals which are linearly converted by an LOG/LN judging unit 44 are respectively selected from the RGB signals which are converted into a digital signal by an AD-converter 43 and, then, respectively transmitted to logarithm converters 45a-45c. The logarithm converters 45a-45c convert the RGB signals given from the judging unit 44 into the ones with a data amount corresponding to the RGB signals converted by logarithm and output them.
