PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems in conditioning molten pig iron, of 'an overflow from a smelting vessel of the molten pig iron', 'sticking of a solidified metal/ slag mixture to the smelting vessel', and 'an anticipation failure for an endpoint constituent and temperature of the conditioned molten pig iron'. SOLUTION: The method for conditioning the molten pig iron using a single conditioning vessel comprises a preliminary conditioning step mainly consisting of desiliconization and dephosphorization, subsequent removing slag after the preliminary step, and a further subsequent conditioning step after removing the slag.
