Tooth (2) has a tooth head (22) of lower impact resistance than the tooth flanks (20, 21). At least one recess (3) of pre-set dimensions is made in the tooth head. This recess is at the same spacing from each of the two flanks. The tooth itself is roughly symmetrical to a plane of symmetry and the recess is also symmetrical to a plane of symmetry.
