METHOD FOR LIMITING THE LIFETIME OF DATAGRAMS IN PACKET-SWITCHED NETWORKS

The datagrams contain an HC-data field (Hop-Count-Data field) specifying their lifetime. A router which sweeps the datagrams on its way through the network can change the HC-data field before it is transferred farther. The HC-data field is changed only when further conditions are produced and depending on the priority of path selected by the transfer notes.
