PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal fixing type fixing device having a new constitution suitable for a high-speed image forming device, realizing smooth fixing and ejection thereafter, and simultaneously preventing an image defect caused by a release agent such as silicone oil. SOLUTION: A coating roller 53d and a regulating blade 53e for regulating the release agent on the coating roller are used as a means for coating the surface of a fixing roller 51 with the release agent. An edge part abutting on the surface of the coating roller is chamfered at an angle of 30 to 70 deg. to the longer surface of the regulating blade. Further, the fixing device adopts one of items (1) to (3): (1) an abutting angle is set to a range of >=30 deg., (2) the surface hardness of the coating roller is set to a range of 30 to 45 deg. by ASKER-C, and (3) the abutting angle is set to >=30 deg. and simultaneously the surface hardness of the coating roller is set to a range of 30 to 45 deg. by ASKER-C.
