PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a cellulose ester film, reducing the contamination of a peeling roll, the cellulose ester film obtained by the manufacturing method and reduced in curling and having high tear strength, and a polarizing plate and a display device using the same. SOLUTION: The cellulose ester film is manufactured by a solution casting film forming method using a dope with a solid concentration of 21 mass % or more containing one or more kind of cellulose ester, which contains cellulose ester having a 2-4C acyl group as a substituent and simultaneously satisfies formula (I-a): 2.3<=X+Y<=3.0 and formula (II): 0<=X<=2.5 when a degree of substitution of an acetyl group is set to X and a degree of substitution of a propionyl group or a butyryl group is set to Y, and an organic solvent.
