The invention relates to the construction of carbon brushes employed in the pantographs working on electric locomotives. According to the invention, the carbon brush is made up of three segments (A, B, C) having the ends machined at 90 degree and seat-shaped contact points, the breaking strength of the brush being increased thereby. The central segment (B) of the brush is the section whereon the trolley-wire works. In case of wear, only the central segment (B) has to be replaced, the two other segments (A, C) being kept unchanged.
