<p>A monoclonal antibody showing no cross reactivity with a stress non-induced enzyme human HO (heme oxygenase)-2 but enabling specific detection of stress-induced human HO-1 and thus being capable of inhibiting the human HO-1 activity; a method of assaying or detecting human HO-1 by using this antibody; a method of detecting stress in cells or tissues; etc. By measuring the total HO activity in the presence and absence of the antihuman HO-1 monoclonal antibody, the human HO-1 in cells or tissues is quantified. By using two monoclonal antibody types as described above, human HO-1 in cells or tissues is quantified by ELISA to thereby detecting stress. Cells or tissues are treated successively with para-formaldehyde and then with saponin and the above-described monoclonal antibody followed by fluorescent staining. Thus human HO-1 is detected and, in its turn, a stress-response is detected.</p> |
