PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress jarring noises, while attaining miniaturization of a whole device, by raising an operation frequency of an inverter circuit in electric discharge lamp lighting device, equipped with the inverter circuit and the control power supply circuit of high frequency operation. SOLUTION: The electric discharge lamp lighting device is equipped with the inverter circuit 12, which converts a commercial power supply 17 into a high-frequency power supply, an electric discharge lamp 13 which is lit with high-frequency lighting by the output of the inverter circuit 12, a control circuit 15 which controls operation of the inverter circuit 12, and the control power supply circuit 16 which operates with high frequency, in order to supply low voltage to the control circuit 15. Both the operation frequency of the inverter circuit 12 and the frequency of the control power supply circuit 16 are set up so that the absolute value of the difference of both the operation frequencies becomes a value in the range of 3 kHz to 20 kHz. |
