PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information recording medium which is excellent in environmental resistance, C/N characteristics and read light resistance. SOLUTION: In the optical information recording medium which has an optically transparent substrate 1 and a recording layer 3 which is formed on the substrate 1 and has a refractive index higher than that of the substrate 1, and in which an upper thin layer 4 is formed on the recording layer 3, the recording layer 3 contains a dyestuff which sublimates or evaporates with the thermal energy of a laser beam, and the upper thin layer 4 is softened by the laser beam, swollen and deformed to the opposite side of the substrate 1 accompanying the sublimation or evaporation of the dyestuff. The upper thin layer 4 consists of a metal which has a prescribed thickness capable of maintaining its swollen shape after cooling, thereby forming a closed and hollow recording pit swollen by laser irradiation to opposite side of the substrate 1. |
