<p>A polarizer plate (11) having a polarizing angle directed upward to the right is provided on a display screen (10). A half-wave plate (21) the optical axis of which is at an angle of 45° with respect to the polarizing angle is stuck on the right half of the display screen. A half-wave plate (22) the optical axis of which is orthogonal to that of the half-wave plate (21) is stuck on the right-eye part of a polarizer plate (12) (eye glasses) which has a polarizing angle directed upward to the left and which the viewer wears. Therefore, the viewer views the left-eye and right-eye images with the viewer's left and right eyes by means of the half-wave plates. The light of the right-eye image (13R) which should not enter the left eye (14L) is completely intercepted because of the mutually orthogonal polarizing angles. The light of the left-eye image (13L) which should not enter the right eye (14R) is completely intercepted because the optical axes of the two phase plates (21, 22) are orthogonal to each other, the coordinate axes rotate by 90°, the phase difference is canceled, and the polarizing plates (11, 12) are in their light-intercepting states. As a result, no crosstalk between the left and light images is produced.</p> |
