PURPOSE: A resources management method in an ATM interface apparatus is provided to separate resources of an ATM interface device by services, thereby capable of managing the resources effectively. CONSTITUTION: VPI(Virtual Path Identifier) resources is separated according to the kinds of service, so that a port is produced(ST10). Data is transmitted and received by using the separated port(ST20). An ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) interface unit is separated into a physical port and a logical port. The physical port means a port for managing the whole VPI resources. The logical port means is a port produced by an allocation of a part region of VPI resources within the physical port. The ports in the ATM interface unit are used independently each other.
