DEVICE FOR DISPLAYING EPG BAR AND METHOD THEREFOR

PURPOSE: A device for displaying an EPG(Electronic Program Guide) bar is provided to update at least more than one broadcasting program on the basis of a fixed indicator, and to display a recording procedure on broadcasting program areas within the EPG bar during recording in memories, thereby enabling a user to easily confirm a time shifting section of a presently-broadcasted program. CONSTITUTION: An EPG decoder(50) extracts EPG data from a signal of one channel. A database memory(80) stores the EPG data. A program memory(100) stores broadcasting programs. A UI(User Interface) display(60a) makes a guide bar having a fixed indicator for displaying a present time with a help of a graphic processor, and slides designation areas of the broadcasting programs corresponding to the EPG data in real time within the guide bar, then updates the broadcasting programs at time intervals on the basis of the fixed indicator. The UI display generates information for displaying a recording procedure on the designation areas of at least more than one broadcasting program. An OSD(70) converts the information into an OSD type, and displays the converted information.
