PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent seizure in a muffler by enhancing heat insulation effect in a sound and heat insulating member. SOLUTION: The sound and heat insulating member D, such as glass wool, is filled into an expansion chamber 15 formed between an inner pipe 5, to which a plurality of small holes a are formed and an outer pipe 13 covering an outer periphery of the inner pipe. An aluminum foil D3 or a layer of glass fabric with aluminum foil, having a thickness of 10 to 50μm, is formed on the inner periphery of the outer pipe 13.
