PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear reciprocating motion transmitting clutch for a mechanical press excellent in energy efficiency, compact, low in costs, and capable of easily changing a displacement curve of a slide being a slider. SOLUTION: The linear reciprocating motion transmitting clutch for the mechanical press is characterized in that a plunger body 2 of a back stroke cylinder 1 is provided movably in a plunger guide 4 along the reciprocating direction of a plunger rod 3, a control circuit 5 is connected to a pair of entrances 9, 9 of the plunger body 2, the control circuit 5 separates the plunger rod 3 and the plunger body 2 by permitting the going in and out of a liquid to and from the plunger body 2, and connects the plunger rod 3 and the plunger body 2 through the liquid separated by a piston as a border by inhibitting the going in and out of the liquid to and from the plunger body 2.
