Cosmetic or dermatological composition (I) in the form of an water-in-oil-in-water (w/o/w) emulsion, comprises: (A) 1-5 wt.% sterols and/or C12-C40 fatty acids; (B) 0.1-1.5 wt.% glycerol, propylene glycol and/or ethylene glycol mono- and/or diesters; (C) 0.1-1.5 wt.% sorbitol monoester; (D) 0.1-1.5 wt.% ethoxylated C12-C40 fatty acids; and (E) 0.5-7 wt.% C12-C40 fatty alcohols. Cosmetic or dermatological composition (I) in the form of an water-in-oil-in-water (w/o/w) emulsion, with a pH of 3.5-8, comprises: (A) 1-5 wt.% sterols and/or C12-C40 fatty acids; (B) 0.1-1.5 wt.% glycerol, propylene glycol and/or ethylene glycol mono- and/or diesters; (C) 0.1-1.5 wt.% sorbitol monoester; (D) 0.1-1.5 wt.% ethoxylated C12-C40 fatty acids ( <= 100 EO); and (E) 0.5-7 wt.% C12-C40 fatty alcohols.
