PURPOSE: An exhaust system for a vehicle is provided to reduce the pressure of exhaust gas increased by the high speed rotation of the engine by discharging the portion of the exhaust gas to an exhaust manifold to a surge tank via first and second return apparatus and return pipes. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust system for a vehicle is composed of an air cleaner(1) for removing dust in the air inhaled from outside, a surge tank(2) controlling an air amount, an intake manifold(3) branching a mixed gas introduced from the surge tank(2), an engine(4) generating the power with the mixed gas, an exhaust manifold(5) gathering the exhaust gas discharged from each cylinder of an engine, an exhaust pipe(6) for discharging the exhaust gas to the air, a catalyst unit(7) for oxidizing and reducing harmful gas to harmless gas, and a muffler(8) reducing exhaust noise. The exhaust system further comprises a first return unit(10) installed between the exhaust pipe(6) and catalyst unit(7), a return pipe(20) connected with the first return unit(10), and a second return unit(30) installed at the surge tank(2).
