PURPOSE: A quenching method by examination of hot coke level in a coke oven is provided which optimizes water spraying proportionally to piling distribution of hot coke loaded on a quenching car. CONSTITUTION: The quenching method by examination of hot coke level in a coke oven comprises the process of operating a level measuring unit(40) adjacently installed to a spray nozzle(20) by sensing approach signals at a computer(30) when a quenching car(10) on which hot coke(C) is piled up approaches to a quenching tower to cool the hot coke in coke process so that a spray amount to be sprayed on the hot coke is varied according to portions of the hot coke to be sprayed by examining the piling distribution of the hot coke piled up in the quenching car, wherein the level measuring unit(40) is consisted of wires(42) which are coiled or uncoiled by driving of motors(41) according to signals of the computer(30), and weights(43) sensing level of the hot coke according to whether the weights are contacted with the surface of the hot coke(C) or not as applying weight on the wires(42), the number of rotations of driving motors(41) until the weights are descended and hit the hot coke is transmitted to the computer(30), a height of the hot coke is calculated through the number of rotations, and the computer sends signals to flow control valves(22) connecting a water tank(21) to each spray nozzles(20) so that an appropriate amount of water is sprayed onto the hot coke according to elevation of the coke. |
