摘要 <p>Printhead for an ink jet printer includes an array of print chips (110) abutting end-to-end. Each print chip including rows of unit cells and each unit cell (114) having an ink ejection nozzle (115). The adjoining edge portions (112, 113) of the print chips include a zig-zag formation to ensure a proper positional alignment and spacing of the nozzles (115) on one chip with those of the adjacent chip. A number of print chips (say ten) can be abutted together to form a pagewidth printhead. A loading spring (S) at one or both ends of the printhead will maintain a force right through the array of print chips, thus ensuring a constant force is maintained across the printhead. The adjoining edge portions of the print chips include a zig-zag formation to ensure a proper positional alignment and spacing of the nozzles on one chip with those of the adjacent chip.</p>
