PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for calcining a glass substrate by which necessary installation place is not large and deformation of the glass substrate is also minimum. SOLUTION: When the glass substrate G having a pattern necessary to be heated on a glass plate is calcined, a plurality of batch type heating furnaces 1, 2 are used and a plurality of glass substrates are accommodated in respective of a plurality of the batch type heating furnaces as a laminated group with spaces in a vertical direction. These group of substrates are successively transported between a plurality of the batch type heating furnaces by successively being charged and being taken out. Further temperature of the batch type heating furnaces is set so that temperature of the group of the glass substrates is gradually raised and then is gradually dropped by batch processing.
