PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce acidic gas in combustion exhaust gas to a large extent and to recover heavy metals contained in collected dust as a refining raw material without excessively increasing the quantity of calcium in the collected dust caught by a dust collector. SOLUTION: In a method for treating the combustion exhaust gas generated accompanied by the production of cement or aggregate using a part of a raw material such as incineration ash containing heavy metals, an absorbent containing at least one compound selected from the group consisting of an alkali metal hydroxide and an alkali metal carbonate is added to the combustion exhaust gas containing acidic gas generated from a rotary kiln.
