PURPOSE: A method of controlling a recording operation of an optical disk is provided to confirm a present charged amount of a battery, to compare the confirmed amount with a preset reference value necessary for a normal completion of the recording operation, and to suspend a data recording if the confirmed amount is smaller, thereby preventing damage to a recording medium, which is caused by an abnormal completion. CONSTITUTION: A controller confirms whether power is applied(S10). If a charging power is applied to an optical disk driving device, the controller confirms a present charged amount of a battery(S11). The controller transmits a packet command to other ATAPI(AT Attachment Packet Interface) through an ATAPI(S13). A micro computer confirms the present charged amount from the received packet command(S14). The micro computer compares the confirmed charged amount with a preset threshold charged amount(S15). If the confirmed charged amount is bigger(S20), the micro computer performs a recording operation(S21). If the confirmed charged amount is smaller, the micro computer suspends the recording operation(S30), and records track information on a PMA(Program Memory Area) of an optical disk(S31). The micro computer maintains a lead-out area, and performs an operation of recording management information on a lead-in area(S32).
