PURPOSE: To provide a driving device and method of a cathode-discharge tube in which low voltage is made possible as a starting voltage by a simple structure in the lighting device of a cathode-discharge tube. CONSTITUTION: The cathode-discharge tube is lighted by increasing the impressing voltage of the cathode-discharge tube, at the lighting start of the cathode- discharge tube, so that the time constant may be slower than the time constant in which the current flows from the cathode of the cathode-discharge tube. Thereby, the lighting start voltage of the cathode-discharge tube can be lowered.
