PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low voltage battery capable of obtaining a low voltage without complicating a circuit, lengthening the life, and easily manufacturing. SOLUTION: This low voltage battery 50 is composed of a positive active material 56 comprising silver oxide, nickel oxyhydroxide, manganese dioxide, or the like, a negative active material 57 comprising copper, a separator 55, and an electrolyte. Since as the negative active material, copper having a single electrode potential in reaction with a hydroxyl group of -0.29 V is used, the electromotive force of the battery combined with the various positive active materials (silver oxide, nickel oxyhydroxide, manganese dioxide) is about 0.4-0.7 V, lower than that of the battery using zinc having a single electrode potential of -1.2 V. Since the voltage is low, the leakage of the alkaline electrolyte can be improved, electrolyte leakage life is increased, and the manufacturing of the battery is facilitated. |
