摘要 <p>A titanium oxide based heat radiating coating composition which comprises titanium dioxide or a reduced titanium oxide as a base material. As coating materials which are applied on the surface of the inner wall of a commercial heating furnace in order to enhance radiant heat transfer, those comprising silicon carbide or a chromite as a base material have been conventionally used. The former is whitened by thermal oxidation at 800°C or higher and converted to an uneffective material and the latter is uneffective at 600°C or lower and may be converted to a material containing six-valent chromium at 1000°C or higher. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is converted to a reduced titanium oxide when heated to a high temperature in a furnace in an atmosphere of H2 or CO2. A reduced titanium oxide will well absorb a near infrared ray and is highly radiative. Formation of a coating film comprising a reduced titanium oxide on the surface of an inner wall of a heating furnace significantly enhance the radiant heat transfer in the furnace. A reduced titanium oxide has excellent stability at a high temperature, is unaffected by an acid, an alkali or a solvent and exhibits high resistance to corrosion by various gaseous components in a furnace.</p>
