PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover structure consisting in a combination of a tonneau cover installed at the rear seat with a tonneau board installed at the back door, wherein the tonneau cover is made serviceable simultaneously even in the condition that the tonneau board is inclined. SOLUTION: The cover structure of an automobile is composed of at least one board installed as covering approximately the whole are over the space where objects are placed, a cover takeup device attached to near that edge of the board undersurface nearer the row of rear seats, and a cover to take two positions, i.e., the accommodation position in which the cover is taken up by and accommodated in the cover takeup device and the service condition in which the cover is elongated from the takeup device to behind the row of front seats or the row of rear seats, wherein the board has a rotary shaft in the neighbourhood of the edge nearer the row of rear seats in such a positioning as apart downward from the board with a certain spacing reserved, and the position of the board is wholly dislocated toward the row of rear seats by rotating that edge of the board farther from the row of rear seats upward round the rotary shaft so that the cover in the service position while the board is in the rotated condition is precluded from interfering with the board.
